This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 per year, reflecting your experience and contributions to our mission of empowering families.
About the Organization
Practical Solutions Counseling is committed to enriching the lives of children and families facing unique challenges. With a core focus on enhancing family dynamics and improving behavioral health, we provide comprehensive youth and family support services tailored to the needs of caregivers and children dealing with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our therapists play a pivotal role in supporting families through compassionate care and effective behavioral strategies, ensuring a noteworthy impact on every child's quality of life.

You will also have access to our outpatient office for in-person sessions, providing a hybrid approach to therapy that emphasizes convenience for families. Your responsibilities will include in-home visits, virtual sessions, and collaborative meetings, all designed to create a supportive and effective therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual therapy sessions in clients' homes as well as group therapy sessions at our outpatient facility, employing evidence-based methods and therapeutic techniques tailored to individual needs.
- Provide targeted intervention strategies focused on anger management, coping mechanisms, and social skills development, working to de-escalate high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and aggression.
- Offer guidance to youth and their caregivers in enhancing decision-making skills to effectively manage behavioral challenges within the home setting.
- Collaborate continuously with the Child Family Treatment Team and other interdisciplinary professionals to ensure cohesive support for youth and families.
- Timely submission of necessary documentation, including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to established protocols and deadlines.
- Participate in monthly meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on individual client progress and overall program effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your work will predominantly involve children aged 3-20 who face developmental challenges, including those with intellectual disabilities. This position requires a strong understanding of individual needs and family dynamics, as you will be directly impacting the emotional and mental well-being of both the children and their caregivers. Through your specialized support, you will enable families to navigate challenges more effectively, fostering healthier outcomes.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required to ensure a robust foundation in therapeutic practices.
- An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license is essential to facilitate therapy and maintain ethical standards.
- Availability for at least 5-10 hours weekly during after-school hours, preferably from 4 PM to 7 PM; weekend flexibility is an additional asset.
- Experience in providing positive behavior support strategies, demonstrating a proactive approach to behavioral management.
- A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for travel to client homes.
- Capability to pass a thorough criminal background check, including fingerprinting, to safeguard the welfare of our clients.
Preferred Experience

- Bilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish or Portuguese, are highly valued as we aim to meet the diverse needs of our community.
