Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Professional Counselor at Greater County Counseling Services, you will:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to establish clients' mental health needs and appropriate treatment strategies.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals, families, and groups, addressing a variety of mental health concerns.
• Utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), solution-focused brief therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to tailor treatment plans for each client.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions to coordinate integrated care plans for clients.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with trends and advancements in mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your clients will include individuals of all ages facing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and relationship issues. The focus is on those who may have limited access to traditional mental health services. Understanding the unique challenges faced by each demographic allows you to implement tailored, effective interventions.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess the following:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Current, unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Connecticut.
• A commitment to ethical practice and a strong understanding of legal standards in mental health care.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse client base.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team to enhance client outcomes.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and other relevant technologies.

Preferred Experience

While the following qualifications are not strictly required, they are highly preferred:

• A minimum of two years of direct counseling experience, especially in clinical settings.
• Specialized training or experience in areas such as family therapy, couples therapy, trauma-informed care, or substance misuse counseling.
• An established track record of successful client interactions that demonstrate effective counseling techniques.

Compensation and Benefits
