Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth evaluations of clients to assess the intensity, frequency, and duration of mood disorder symptoms.
• Collaboratively create tailored treatment plans that align with each client's unique needs, goals, and preferences.
• Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to facilitate effective therapy sessions.
• Provide educational support to clients and their families about mood disorders, treatment options, and self-care practices to enhance overall well-being.
• Monitor and document client progress diligently, adjusting treatment plans as required to optimize care.
• Engage in integrated care practices by collaborating with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic support.
• Stay current with research and advancements in mood disorder treatment to refine therapy techniques effectively.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality.
• Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development to foster growth within the team.
• Advocate for clients' rights and needs, striving to reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The LMFT will primarily work with individuals experiencing mood disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Our clinic serves a diverse clientele, including vulnerable groups such as the homeless, refugees, and survivors of domestic violence, thus requiring a therapist who is culturally competent and empathetic to various backgrounds and experiences.

Qualifications

• An active and current state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
• A master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for establishing effective and trusting therapeutic relationships with clients.
• A demonstrated ability to empathize with clients' struggles, displaying a non-judgmental attitude throughout the therapeutic process.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to ensure efficient handling of caseload and administrative tasks.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience working with underserved populations, particularly those affected by mood disorders, is a plus. Familiarity with integrating various therapeutic methodologies and an interest in continuing education in addiction counseling will also be beneficial for this role.
