Description
As a Diesel Mechanic with Waste Connections, your primary responsibility is to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Key duties include:
- Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
- Utilizing vehicle computer diagnostic systems to identify failures and program engine and vehicle control modules
- Responding to road calls and emergency repairs as needed
- Reviewing, completing, or assigning repairs based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
- Completing maintenance documentation using fleet maintenance software
- Test driving vehicles before and after repairs to ensure proper operation
- Supporting team members with repairs and troubleshooting when needed
- Maintaining professional, courteous communication with drivers and coworkers
- Keeping a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards
- Performing additional job-related duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
To succeed in this role, candidates should have:
- Strong experience with diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance
- Proficiency using a variety of diesel diagnostic tools
- A basic set of mechanic tools
- Class B CDL (or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire)
- Hydraulic system experience (preferred but not required)
- A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and service excellence
